History of Auli
In the 8th era AD, the brilliant
Guru Adi Shankaracharya is said to have move on these fields. The sanctuary
built by him at Joshimath still happens. For hundreds of years, the bright
semi-drifting societies of the Bhotiyas, of the Mongolian stock, passed over
the routes at Auli, nearby called Thatauli. Their long-haired yaks, packed with
a variation of products, assisted them in leading a thriving trade with nearby
Tibet.
Before Auli was
well-known as a ski resort its slopes were the preparation ground for men of
valiance and daring-the ski-equipped men of the Indo-Tibetan boundary Police.
Among the breath-taking, mythological peaks extended round Auli, the
23,490-feet-high Trishul was the scene of a unique excursion in 1958. The
Mountaineers took four days to hike the peak and only 90 minutes to ski low to
the base camp.
